Tour of 5 Days Camel Trekking Tafraout Sidi Ali

Mythic Morocco Tours offers a 5-day camel trek in Tafrout Sidi Ali; while trekking in the sand and stone desert between Erg Chebbi and Zagora, you will experience an absolutely untouristic region, inhabited by native nomads. You should have an average fitness. The daily trekkings in the morning with dromedaries will be a maximum of 3 hours. We then take our time to lunch and to rest a bit. In the afternoon you walk again for about 1.5 hours before your camp is built in the open air, under the sky of the desert. You will spend the nights in very good European tents with warm blankets and mattresses 10 cm high, so you only need to bring a warm sleeping bag.

Itinerary: Tour of 5 Days Camel Trekking Tafraout Sidi Aili

Day 1: Arrival at Marrakech

You will be picked up from the airport and brought to your Riad. The first dinner before we start the 5-day camel trek in Tafrout Sidi Ali is served in the quiet garden of your comfortable and traditional riad in the heart of the medina. Overnight stay on a half-board basis.

Day 2: Marrakech

The city with the oriental magic invites you on a ramble through the medina: the highlight is the “Djemaa el Fna,” the marketplace with its colorful everyday life, where traders, storytellers, water vendors, and snake charmers can be found. The visit of the palaces Dar Sidi Said and the Palais de la Bahia, as well as the Mellah and the souks, is on the program. Arrange the half-day tour as desired with your city guide.

Day 3: The High Atlas with Telouet and Ait Benhaddou – The oasis of Skoura

Early morning departure towards the desert. On the way we visit historical monuments at Telouet. The residence of the Atlas King El-Glaoui is one of the must-sees on a journey across the High Atlas. Visit the Kasbah of the Glaoua family and take the opportunity for a short hike in the Atlas Mountains. Drive through the gorges of the High Atlas to the Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, which was another residence of the Atlas King El-Glaoui and has already served as an impressive backdrop for many films. Then continue to the oasis of Skoura. Here you can relax after the first magnificent day. Overnight in a comfortable and traditional Eco-Kasbah Hotel in Skoura, half board included.

Day 4 – day 8: Multi-day desert trekking in the region of Tafraoute Sidi Ali

5-Day Camel Trek in Tafrout Sidi Ali, in an onward journey to the sand dunes of Tazoulayt. There our desert team and the camels await us. Our first night in the desert! We sleep in Bouladam today. The next morning we start the desert trekking far away from mainstream tourism and live and experience the real nomadic life. Our daily marching time is about 3 to 5 hours. On the way we sleep in comfortable tents, and our desert team prepares a delicious meal for us.

Our second night will be spent on “La petite dune,” the small dune. The next tent lodgings will be in Lkhsamt. That will be our longest day of hiking. The following night we will sleep at Jebel Zirg, before the last day of our trekking ends, in the village of Tafraout Sidi Ali. We walk up to our house and are greeted with a large plate of couscous. The last night we spend with our friends’ family. Enjoy some cozy time with the whole group and the locals.

Day 9: The Drâa Valley: the Jebel Saghro and the Kasbah Oulad Othmane

After our experience on the 5-day camel trek in Tafrout Sidi Ali, an absolutely untouristic region, we found the most beautiful place to go trekking is Tafrout Sidi Ali.  After breakfast we head towards Marrakech again. We drive along the Saghro mountain range over N’Kob and through the Drâa valley with its magnificent oases to the traditional Kasbah Oulad Othmane, where we spend the night. Overnight stay with half board in the traditional Kasbah Oulad Othmane.

Day 10: Return to Marrakech

Today we cross the High Atlas again and come back to the fairytale city of Morocco, Marrakech. Arrival in the evening in your Riad. Free time in the evening: you can have dinner in one of the restaurants at the Djemaa el Fna square or at one of the many food stalls, or in the luxurious Le Marakkchi restaurant. Bed and breakfast at a Riad in the medina of Marrakech.

Day 11: End of the trip

At the end of the 5-day camel trek in Tafrout Sidi Ali, transfer back to the airport. It is time to say goodbye to our hosts and take your flight back home. Or you can always extend your journey with some extra days in Marrakech.
