Beginning and ending in Ouarzazate, this private eight-day journey combines the palm landscapes of Skoura, the Valley of Roses, Boutaghrar, Dades hiking, the dramatic mountains of Jbel Saghro, two nights in the Merzouga region and a deeper return to Skoura.
Along the way, experience local family hospitality, mountain roads, Sahara culture, traditional villages, pottery, kasbah landscapes and some of southern Morocco’s most extraordinary scenery.
Eight Days Through Southern Morocco

Overnight · Boumalne DadesBegin your private journey with pickup from your hotel, riad or Ouarzazate Airport.
Leave Ouarzazate and travel east toward Skoura Oasis, where palm groves, traditional villages and historic earthen kasbahs introduce you to the landscapes of southern Morocco.
Continue toward Kelaat M’Gouna and the Valley of Roses, before leaving the main road and traveling deeper into the valley toward Boutaghrar.
Pass traditional Amazigh villages, cultivated valleys and striking red-earth landscapes, with time for scenic stops along the way.
Continue toward Boumalne Dades, where you settle into your selected accommodation for the first of two nights in the Dades region.

After breakfast, meet your local guide and begin a guided hike through the valley.
Walk along village trails, agricultural terraces and dramatic rock formations while learning more about traditional life in the Dades region.
During the experience, visit a local family for a traditional lunch, giving you an opportunity to share time with local people and experience Moroccan hospitality away from the usual tourist stops.
After the hike, continue farther into the Dades landscapes to discover the dramatic gorge road, rock formations and panoramic viewpoints.
Return to Boumalne Dades for your second evening.

This is one of the journey’s great changes of scenery, moving from the fertile Dades Valley into volcanic mountains, rocky plateaus and remote landscapes traditionally associated with nomadic communities.
Travel through Tizi n’Tazazert, with stops along the mountain route for panoramic views and photographs.
Continue through the dramatic landscapes of Jbel Saghro before descending toward Nkob, a traditional southern village surrounded by palm groves and known for its distinctive earthen kasbahs.
Arrive in Nkob and enjoy a relaxed evening.

Overnight · Sahara Desert CampLeave Nkob after breakfast and continue east through the open landscapes of southern Morocco.
Travel toward Alnif, surrounded by the stark mountain and desert scenery of southeastern Morocco, before continuing toward Rissani, an important historic town and traditional commercial center of the Tafilalt region.
From Rissani, continue toward Merzouga, where the immense golden dunes of Erg Chebbi begin to rise from the desert landscape.
In the late afternoon, prepare for one of the signature experiences of the journey: a sunset camel ride across the Sahara dunes.
Cross Erg Chebbi as the light changes over the desert before arriving at your selected Sahara camp.
Enjoy dinner and spend the evening beneath the desert sky.

Today is dedicated to experiencing Merzouga beyond the camel ride and desert camp.
Travel around the Erg Chebbi region and visit Khamlia, a village known for its musical traditions and distinctive desert culture.
Continue through rocky desert landscapes and areas traditionally used by nomadic families.
Depending on local circumstances, there may be an opportunity to meet a nomadic family and learn more about traditional life in this remote environment.
Discover the contrast between golden dunes, black desert terrain, small settlements and wide-open landscapes.
Later, return to the Merzouga area and check into your selected riad for a comfortable second night in the Sahara region.

Take time to walk through the gorge and enjoy the surrounding palm landscapes before continuing west through southern Morocco.
Travel through the Dades region and Valley of Roses before reaching Skoura Oasis in the late afternoon.
