High Atlas • Kasbahs • Ouarzazate

Marrakech – Ait Benhaddou – Ouarzazate – Skoura

Across the High Atlas to the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.

From your hotel in Marrakech, we travel into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing high peaks and panoramic landscapes while passing through traditional Berber villages. The road takes us over the Tizi-n-Tichka pass (2,260 m), often snow-capped in winter, with opportunities to pause for photos or a café break.

Our journey continues with a visit to Telouet Kasbah, once an important stop on the caravan route linking the Sahara with Marrakech.

Lunch will be enjoyed in Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s most iconic kasbahs, famous for its adobe architecture and as a filming location for productions such as Game of Thrones.

After exploring this unique fortress, we continue to Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa,” for a short stop by its film studios. We then head towards Skoura, where we spend the night surrounded by palm groves and the charm of the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs.

Valley of Roses • Off-Road • Nomads

Skoura – Valley of Roses – Boutaghrar – Boumalne Dades

Into remote valleys, mountain paths and authentic nomadic life.

The journey continues to the beautiful Valley of Roses, to a very charming small village named Boutaghrar, surrounded by stunning nature.

Be ready then for your “OFF ROAD” adventure! Guided by some local music in the car, the driver heads towards the rocky paths leading to the Bedouins living in caves.

They will welcome you and will be happy to tell you all about their local habits, way of living, food, and so much more. Take a spot in the cave, enjoy a cup of Berber mint tea, and immerse yourself in their way of living.

Learn some Berber language; in the afternoon we reach the Dades Gorges for the overnight stay.

Travel beyond the main roads into the remote Boutaghrar Valley.

Boumalne Dades – Hiking Through Dades Gorges

A walking adventure through the dramatic landscapes of Dades.

Hiking tour through Gorge of Dades. You will start at Ait Arbi and then slowly hike through the Monkey’s Fingers canyon, passing through nature and narrow ravines while enjoying wonderful views up to the gorges.

Our local guide will help to explain the first steps of the nomad caravan coming from behind the mountains.

Spend about 3–4 hours walking, followed by time with my family for lunch in the afternoon, and then return to your hotel.

Todgha • Erfoud • Erg Chebbi

Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga

From dramatic gorges to golden Sahara dunes and a luxury desert camp.

Leaving the Dades Valley, we reach Tineghir, exploring the vast palm oasis and the stunning Todra Gorge—a must-see in the region.

We continue toward the Sahara, passing beautiful Kasbahs and stopping at Erfoud to visit its famous Fossil Museum, featured in David Attenborough’s BBC series.

After a short drive, we enjoy local tea at the base of the golden Erg Chebbi dunes. Then, embark on a 45-minute trek by camel or 4×4 into the desert, guided by a nomadic driver, as the sunset paints the dunes in breathtaking colors.

The journey ends at a luxurious desert camp with nomad tents, where you can relax, savor dinner, listen to traditional music around the fire, or wander the dunes under a star-filled sky.

A Desert Experience Like No Other

Sunrise, nomadic traditions, Gnaoua rhythms and the golden Sahara.

The day begins with a special awakening as we witness a breathtaking sunrise, enveloped in the tranquility unique to the desert.

Our return journey can be taken by camel or via off-road vehicle, depending on your preference. Along the way, we’ll visit nomadic families living behind the dunes, offering a rare glimpse into their traditional way of life.

Next, we head to Khamlia, where the rhythm of African Gnaoua music will captivate you. For lunch, enjoy an authentic Berber pizza before we explore Merzouga city and visit the serene garden of Hassi Labied.

In the afternoon, we’ll check into our hotel, where you can unwind by the pool. As the sun sets, a short walk to the nearest dune in the village offers the perfect vantage point to admire the beauty of the desert sunset.

We will spend the night at Madu Camp, an oasis of comfort and relaxation.

After breakfast, we will visit the vibrant souks of Rissani, known for their traditional markets and the unique park of donkeys.

We’ll also explore the sheep market, a lively hub of local trade. From there, we’ll gather fresh ingredients to prepare a barbecue during our journey to Tafraoute Sidi Ali.

In the evening, we will arrive at Tafraoute, a charming village perched atop a small hill in the rocky Hamada Desert. The tranquility of this remote location will offer a peaceful night’s rest.

You’ll have the chance to explore these unique cultural treasures before continuing our journey.

We then head toward M’Hamid El Ghizlane, the gateway to the Sahara Desert, traversing a landscape that transitions from rocky plateaus to endless sand dunes.

Upon arrival in M’Hamid, we will check into Chez le Pacha Kasbah, a traditional and charming kasbah, where you can relax and unwind in the serene desert environment.

Our first stop is Tamegroute, famous for its pottery workshops, where you can witness centuries-old craftsmanship.

You’ll enjoy a special lunch with a local family, experiencing genuine Moroccan hospitality.

Next, we continue to Kasbah Oulad Othmane, an impressive fortress set against the desert’s stunning backdrop. Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to stop for photos and admire the landscape.

The day ends in Agdz, where you’ll stay overnight in a traditional kasbah, surrounded by history, tranquility, and the unique charm of this remarkable region.

After breakfast, we depart from Agdz and make our way towards Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Gateway to the Sahara.”

We will make a brief stop to visit the charming Cascade Tizgui, a hidden gem nestled in the rugged landscape, offering a refreshing break amidst nature.

We’ll then have a short visit to Ouarzazate, taking in the essence of this cinematic city known for its historic kasbahs and studios.

From there, we continue our scenic drive over the famous Tizi-n-Tichka pass, winding through the High Atlas Mountains with breathtaking views at every turn.

Arriving in Marrakech by evening, you’ll have time to relax and enjoy your overnight stay, surrounded by the vibrant energy of this iconic city.

Today is dedicated to Marrakech, an imperial city and UNESCO World Heritage site.

After breakfast, explore the medina on a cycling tour, passing the city’s most emblematic landmarks. Admire the Kutubia Mosque, whose minaret inspired monuments like Seville’s Giralda, and visit stunning interiors such as the Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Madrasa, and Bahia Palace.

No visit is complete without wandering the vibrant souks, artisan quarters, and the lively Jemaa el-Fna Square, recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage.

In the afternoon, enjoy a leisurely stroll or visit cultural sites like the Marrakech Museum, Majorelle Gardens, Menara Gardens, or El Badi Palace.
