10-Day Morocco Tour: Marrakech, Sahara Desert & Atlas Mountains

Your adventure begins as our Spanish-speaking driver warmly welcomes you at the Fez airport. From here, prepare to explore the mesmerizing Middle Atlas Mountains, with peaks soaring above 3,000 metres.

Our first enchanting stop is Ifrane, often referred to as the Moroccan Switzerland, with its picturesque greenery and distinctive gabled roofs reminiscent of the European Alps.

Continue to Ifrane National Park, also known as Cedar National Park or Monkey Forest. The park provides a natural habitat for Barbary macaques, offering a memorable encounter with one of Morocco’s most distinctive wild animals.

Descending the southern slopes of the Middle Atlas, the landscape gradually becomes more arid, signalling our approach to the desert. The journey continues through the Ziz Valley towards Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and geological treasures.

Further south, we arrive in Merzouga, where the road meets the sands of the Sahara. A camel ride through the iconic Erg Chebbi dunes awaits, leading to a comfortable tented camp where you can enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert beneath a spectacular canopy of stars.

Awaken to the spectacle of a Sahara sunrise over the Erg Chebbi dunes, where the first light transforms the landscape into a sea of golden sand. After breakfast at the camp, begin a day dedicated to discovering the hidden character of the Merzouga region.

Travel to Khamlia, known as the “village of the blacks,” and experience the captivating rhythms of Gnawa music, a deeply rooted musical tradition of southern Morocco recognized by UNESCO.

Continue on a thrilling off-road journey along desert tracks once associated with the Paris-Dakar rally. Discover remote landscapes, former mining areas and elevated viewpoints overlooking the vast Erg Chebbi dunes.

One of the highlights of the day is a visit to a community of desert nomads. Take time to learn about their traditional way of life and experience the contrast between modern Morocco and the enduring culture of the Sahara.

As the day comes to an end, return to your desert accommodation for dinner and another peaceful evening beneath the stars.
