Day 1: Tangier – Asilah
Welcome to Grand Morocco Tours! Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted with a warm welcome featuring traditional Moroccan sweet cookies, dates, and a bottle of water. After a warm welcome, our driver will commence the 12-day tour, starting with the picturesque town of Asilah, just under 50 km away.. Asilah, situated on the Atlantic coast, is often considered a hidden gem. Its pristine streets and whitewashed houses adorned with shades of blue add to its beauty.
Spend the rest of the day exploring Asilah, followed by relaxation in a charming riad in the heart of the medina.
Day 2: Asilah – Tetouan – Chaouen
After breakfast at the riad in Asilah, embark on a journey to Tetouan, known as the ‘White Dove’ due to the predominant color of its old town. Tetouan carries Spanish influences from its past as the capital of the Spanish Protectorate of Morocco. Continue the day’s adventure to Chaouen, or Chefchaouen, often called the ‘blue city’ for the azure hues that adorn its medina. Despite its size, Chaouen is a major attraction in Morocco, offering well-maintained houses and a unique atmosphere.
Explore Chaouen and later retire to a riad within the medina for the night.
Day 3: Chaouen
Enjoy a leisurely day exploring the enchanting town of Chaouen. Visit its iconic kasbah, browse the local souks, and wander through the steep and winding streets of the medina. Don’t miss the panoramic views from various viewpoints showcasing the charm of Chaouen and the surrounding Rif Mountains. Return to your riad in the medina for a comfortable night’s stay.
Day 4: Chaouen – Rabat
On the fourth day, experience a stark contrast as you leave the picturesque town of Chaouen for the bustling capital, Rabat. Rabat, often overlooked in standard tourist routes, boasts architectural wonders like the Kasbah of the Oudayas, the mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Hassan Tower. These landmarks contributed to Rabat’s designation as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the city’s museums, souks, and its beach. Spend the night in a riad in Rabat’s historic center.
Day 5: Rabat – Volubilis – Meknes – Fez
Rabat, an ‘Imperial City’ since 1912, sets the stage for exploring two more imperial cities: Meknes and Fez. After breakfast, journey to the archaeological site of Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site showcasing Roman ruins. Continue to Meknes, another Imperial City known for its mausoleum, beautiful medina, and historic wall. Then, head to Fez, where you’ll spend the night in a riad within the medina.
Day 6: Fez – Visite
Discover the cultural and spiritual capital of Morocco, Fez, with the assistance of an official local guide. Visit landmarks like the Karaouine mosque, medersas, and artisan neighborhoods. The Mellah, or Jewish quarter, and the Royal Palace are also noteworthy. Enjoy a free afternoon for personal exploration. Return to your riad in the medina for the night.
Day 7: Fez – Ifrane – Monkey Forest – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert Dunes
Embark on a journey through natural wonders, starting with Ifrane, known as the ‘Moroccan Switzerland.’ Explore the Monkey Forest in Cedar National Park, home to Barbary macaques. Continue south through the Ziz Valley, reaching Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Experience a camel ride to a tented camp in Erg Chebbi, where you’ll enjoy dinner, sunset, and the starry Sahara night.
Day 8: Merzouga Desert – Black Village – Merzouga Desert Dunes
Witness a breathtaking sunrise over Erg Chebbi before returning to Merzouga for a refreshing shower. Explore the ‘black people’ village of Khamlia, known for its gnawa music. Embark on a 4×4 adventure through former Paris-Dakar rally tracks, visit Khol mines, and encounter desert nomads. Spend the night in a hotel after dinner.
Day 9: Merzouga Desert – Rissani – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Ouarzazate
Witness the sunrise in Erg Chebbi once more before heading to Rissani, renowned for its vibrant traditional market Visit the Todra Gorges, admired for its vertical walls. Traverse the Dades Valley and the Route of the Thousand Kasbahs, arriving in Ouarzazate. Explore the Kasbah of Taourirt and, if time allows, visit the film studios. Spend the night in a hotel.
Day 10: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Visit the iconic Ait Ben Haddou after breakfast. Cross the High Atlas via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, offering stunning mountain views. Arrive in Marrakech with the evening free for exploration. Stay overnight in a charming riad.
Day 11: Marrakech
Dedicate the day to exploring Marrakech with an official local guide. Visit landmarks like Kutubia Mosque, Saadian Tombs, Ben Youssef Medersa, and the Bahia Palace. Explore the medina and Jemaa el-Fna Square. Enjoy free time in the afternoon for personal activities. Spend the night in the same charming riad.
Day 12: Marrakech – Airport
